POSITION SUMMARY:
The Training Manager leads the development, coordination, and delivery of training programs that support employee skill development, retention, and workplace safety in a beef processing environment. This role oversees the Coaching and Training team, ensures new hires receive structured training and support, and works closely with Production, HR, and Safety leadership to promote a positive, engaging, and high-performance culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Coaching Program Management
- Provide direction, development, and daily support to Trainers and Coaches.
- Certify Trainers and Coaches through evaluation of effectiveness through observation and feedback.
- Monitor new hires during onboarding and early employment, using data and input to identify employees who may require additional support.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to address skill, performance, and retention risks.
New Hire Training & Support
- Conduct daily rounding and check-ins with Trainers, Coaches, new employees, reinforcing culture, expectations, and support resources.
- Provide or coordinate instruction in PPE use, safety protocols, knife sharpening, work strengthening, and foundational job tasks.
- Support placement of new hires into appropriate roles and ensure completion of training checklists and documentation.
- Maintain attendance records for in-person skill development classes and provide counseling for early attendance or performance issues.
Training Program Development & Compliance
- Identify training needs and skill gaps through observation, feedback, and consultation with supervisors and managers.
- Develop and deliver training aligned with operational requirements, safety standards, HACCP/SSOP compliance, and regulatory expectations.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust strategies to improve outcomes.
- Maintain accurate training records and provide reporting to leadership.
Collaboration & Culture
- Work closely with Production, HR, and Safety departments to ensure training programs support operational goals and employee engagement.
- Promote a culture of learning, communication, engagement and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a leader in a management role.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to coach and provide feedback across all levels of the organization.
- Comfortable working on the production floor in varying temperatures with extensive walking.
- Intermediate to expert computer skills for documentation, reporting, and training material development and use. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital training tools.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Adult Learning and Education or other comparable Bachelor's degree required.
- Education or training experience in a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
- Relevant education may be considered in lieu of a portion of the experience requirements.
