What are the responsibilities and job description for the Glass Installer position at True View™ Windows and Glass?
Job Description: Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and internal work orders to determine size, shape, color, type, and thickness of glass, location of framing, installation procedures, staging and scaffolding materials required. Determine plumb of walls and ceilings, using plumb lines and levels and laser levels. Install pre-assembled metal and wood frameworks for windows and doors to be fitted with glass panels, using hand tools. Operate ladder lifters, power suction cup systems, and manual suction cup systems to lift large, heavy pieces of glass. Set glass doors into frames and bolt metal hinges, handles, locks, and other hardware to attach doors to frames and walls. Drive company trucks to installation sites and unload mirrors, glass, glass equipment, and tools for installations. Load and arrange glass and mirrors onto delivery trucks, using suction cups to lift glass. Measure glass, shower doors, mirrors and dimensions of areas to determine material sizes required. Caulk glass and windows with silicone or polyurethane a required to substrate. Assemble, erect, and dismantle scaffolds, rigging, and hoisting equipment. Cut and remove broken glass prior to installing replacement glass using proper equipment. Secure mirrors in position, using mastic cement and/or screws. Cut with cutters' wheel & polish annealed and laminated glass when necessary. Grind and polish glass, smoothing edges when necessary. Cut, assemble, fit, and attach metal-framed glass enclosures for showers, bathtubs, display cases, skylights, solariums, and other structures. Move furniture to clear work sites and cover floors and furnishings with drop cloths. Confer with customers to determine project requirements and to provide cost estimates. Select the type and color of glass or mirror according to customer specifications.
High school/GED is required plus three (3) months experience as a Glass Installer.
This position requires daily travel to worksites in Durango, CO and within La Plata County, CO. No overnight travel. Salary: $45,760-$54,080/year.
