We are seeking a technically strong Process Engineer to join our operations team and play a critical role in commissioning, optimizing, and continuously improving chemical and metallurgical processes. This position will focus heavily on designing and executing experiments, implementing process improvements, and supporting data-driven decision-making using advanced analytical tools.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in heavy manufacturing environments and is passionate about chemical processes, metallurgical recovery, and process modeling.
Qualifications:
- 4 4 years of experience in process engineering, ideally in heavy industrial, chemical, or metal manufacturing.
- Proficient in Design of Experiments (DOE), SPC, and the use of statistical software like Minitab or JMP.
- Experience with process simulation tools (Aspen, MATLAB, ChemCAD) and data analysis platforms.
- Solid foundation in chemical process principles: reactions, heat/mass transfer, and thermodynamics.
- Familiarity with catalyst handling, recycling techniques, and metallurgical refining is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and quality control systems.
- Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and basic programming for process optimization is a plus.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Essential Duties
- Support Lead the design and execution of experiments (DOE) to optimize production parameters.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze process data using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other statistical analysis methods (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
- Support the commissioning and start-up of new equipment and systems, ensuring seamless integration into existing operations.
- Develop and implement process simulation and modeling strategies using tools such as Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, or ChemCAD.
- Drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Monitor and improve chemical reactions, thermodynamics, and material balances involved in processing vanadium, nickel, molybdenum, and related alloys.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to enhance throughput, reliability, quality, and efficiency.
- Apply knowledge of catalyst recycling, waste material processing, and value recovery to improve sustainability and cost-efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and support a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and utilize analytical instruments for process control and monitoring.
- Support capital projects, perform risk analysis, and contribute to root-cause investigations and Kaizen events.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering or chemical engineering is ideal.
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
