A Filing & Documentation Analyst supports the development, filing, and ongoing maintenance of our homeowners insurance programs across multiple states. They evaluate rating plans, monitor existing and new legislation, prepare and track regulatory filings, and ensure our policies, rules, and procedures remain compliant with evolving state requirements. This role works closely with Product Management, Underwriting, Actuarial, Legal, and Customer Service to deliver timely, accurate filings and data-driven recommendations that support profitable, compliant growth in our homeowners line of business.

 

Primary Accountabilities 

  • Prepare and track homeowners rate, rule, and form filings through SERFF for assigned states, ensuring timeliness and completeness.
  • Coordinate with Product, Actuarial, Underwriting, and Legal to gather filing materials, exhibits, certifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Draft responses to regulator objections, information requests, and state-specific data calls in coordination with subject-matter experts, ensuring accuracy and a professional tone.
  • Assist in the implementation of approved filings, including the tracking and updating of rating manuals, underwriting guides, rating engines and policy administration systems across multiple states.
  • Perform quality checks on rating rules and factors, territories, and underwriting rules to ensure they match filed and approved programs in each jurisdiction.
  • Conducts competitive market analysis from multiple sources including distribution channels, customers, vendors, insurance departments and regulatory filings. 
  • Monitor state regulatory updates (statutes, regulations, bulletins) and assess impact on existing homeowners programs, manuals, and underwriting rules.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc reports summarizing filing status, regulatory changes, and program performance for leadership.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of document editions, filing approaches, regulatory interpretations, and internal procedures for knowledge-sharing across the team
  • Maintain an organized calendar and tracker of open filings, objections, approvals, implementation dates, data calls and state-specific conditions.

 

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements 

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of personal Property and Casualty regulations and procedures, filing support requirements, product life cycles, and industry trends. 
  • 3 years of demonstrated filing experience supporting multi-state insurance rating programs, designing creative solutions to complex business problems in respect to a market’s legislative landscape, documenting business decisions and creating reference material for internal product support.
  • Knowledge of common and emerging industry vendor data products and their significance in rating, and underwriting, in respect to state specific filing procedures and usage restrictions
  • Proven skills in researching ambiguous topics, evidence of excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to effectively “create from scratch”  
  • Advanced working knowledge of SERFF, IRFS, S&P Capital IQ, Mozart Forms Composer, Westlaw
  • MGA, start-up or Insurtech experience is a bonus.  

 

The position is remote, but we offer the opportunity to collaborate and work in an office environment in Boston, MA.
