SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for assisting with and carrying out production-related maintenance tasks and assignments to support safe, efficient, and continuous operations. This position performs work across multiple functional areas, with a primary focus on repairing and maintaining mechanical systems, including maintaining heavy equipment, as well as supporting machine controls, electrical and pneumatic components, and general facility maintenance

Maintenance Technician Responsibility
- Ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and procedures on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, buildings, production machines, and mechanical equipment.
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, engineering specifications, and safety procedures.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and locate sources of problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling equipment using hoists, hand tools, and power tools; examine form and texture of parts.
- Determine dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts and using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of equipment and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
- Control downtime by communicating preventive maintenance needs and techniques to production personnel and supervisors.
- Schedule and perform timely maintenance to ensure maximum equipment utilization and minimal downtime.
- Anticipate and communicate the need for equipment, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using tools, equipment, and supplies efficiently.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Document, review, follow, and close work orders in the CMMS to ensure accurate maintenance records and continuity between shifts.
- Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and responding to requests.
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing maintenance needs.
- Assure all assigned work is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions, work orders, and company requirements.
- Demonstrate the ability to meet production standards within reasonable timeframes based on job complexity.
Heavy Equipment Responsibilities
- Safely fabricate, install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, including hydraulic systems, gearboxes, pumps, and related mechanical systems, either in part or in whole.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment used in production and facility operations.
- Inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings, seals, and related components.
- Fabricate repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
- Utilize metalworking equipment and processes, including arc welding, oxy/acetylene, MIG, TIG, and plasma cutting, to fabricate and/or repair equipment and components.
Electrical Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical components associated with machinery and production equipment.
- Assist electrical diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer instructions when performing electrical-related maintenance tasks.
- Assists calibration and repairment of pneumatic systems and associated controls.
- Support machine controls and process systems within assigned scope and training.
General Duties
- Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to ensure proper condition and safe operation.
- Ensure maintenance work and production output meet established quality standards all maintenance work is to be recorded in the CMMS system.
- Demonstrate professionalism, strong work ethics, and positive teamwork.
- Work independently and collaboratively to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Maintain technical knowledge through training, workshops, and technical publications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education or 2–3 years of relevant experience in maintenance, manufacturing, industrial machinery, or a production environment; equivalent hands-on experience accepted.
- Experience in performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and production equipment.
- Working knowledge of safety practices and applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to maintenance operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to adapt maintenance practices and techniques to varying equipment and conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and management.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Basic to intermediate in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS
