What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supported Living Assistant position at True North Supports?
This is a 1099 position.
Job Summary
Part-time support staff for someone wheelchair-bound that has cerebral palsy. He's very intelligent, loves to talk and ask questions, and just takes a little extra time to understand.
He is a huge classical music fan and has tickets to Abravanel Hall nearly every weekend. The main help needed is on weekends, though some weekday evenings could also be available if more hours are wanted/needed.
The responsibilities include:
Helping lift him in and out of a car
Driving him to activities, especially his weekly concert
Assisting him with eating and basic personal needs
Spending a few flexible hours on Friday or Saturday nights for concerts
A few hours on the opposite weekend day/night
A few hours on Sunday
He speaks both Russian and English (as does his mother, who he lives with in Holladay).
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or other cognitive impairments is highly desirable.
- Previous experience with hospice care or long-term care settings is a plus.
- Ability to work compassionately with diverse populations including seniors and individuals with disabilities while maintaining professionalism and patience is critical.
