Assembly Technician (Fire Apparatus)
Location: Sumner, WA
Company: US Fire Equipment – a division of True North Emergency Equipment
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (onsite)
Hourly Rate: $24.00–$30.00 based on experience
US Fire Equipment is growing and looking for a skilled Assembly Technician to join our team. We specialize in every aspect of emergency vehicle support—from inspections and service to full refurbishment, custom upfitting, and the construction of custom brush fire trucks.
In this hands‑on role, you’ll assemble fire apparatus—primarily medium‑duty brush trucks (F‑450/550 chassis). This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and previous experience working in assembly, manufacturing, or diesel mechanic environments. Candidates must supply their own tools and hold a valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and work on both gas and diesel trucks (primarily medium‑duty platforms).
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently while documenting any issues or discrepancies.
- Track parts, materials, and labor time accurately.
- Document installation procedures through notes and photos when required.
- Follow detailed work instructions, training, and quality standards.
- Work independently while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship and safety practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- 4–5 years of diesel/vehicle mechanic experience.
- Prior experience in assembly or manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, brake systems, and electrical systems.
- High attention to detail with a focus on producing quality work.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools effectively.
- Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Must provide basic hand tools.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Interest in ongoing technical training or certifications.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screening.
