Industrial Hygienist (Mid-Level)

True North Consultants is a growing environmental consulting firm that offers continuing growth, stable leadership, and views employees as valuable resources. We are seeking a self-motivated Industrial Hygienist (Mid-Level) with 3–7 years of relevant experience to join our team in Naperville, Illinois, and become an integral part of our continued success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform industrial hygiene assessment and sampling collection tasks, including asbestos, lead, mold, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
• Oversee asbestos, lead, mold investigation and remediation projects, and other industrial hygiene/environmental projects
• Preparation of field documents (notes, forms, photographs, figures, logs)
• Preparation of proposals and management of project budgets and deliverables
• Field equipment operation
• Technical report preparation and editing
• Communicate project task status, schedules, findings, and recommendations to staff and senior consultants
• Local travel of 50-75% is expected; nationwide travel is possible, and 2nd/3rd shift or weekend work may be required

Minimal Qualifications

• BA/BS in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental and Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related STEM field (Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences)
• 3-7 years of experience in asbestos inspections or related industrial hygiene practice areas, with preferred expertise in mold, lead, field sampling, data collection, and equipment calibration/operation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word), technical report drafting/editing, and interpreting construction documents, lab data, and regulations
• Required: Current IL Asbestos Project Manager License, Asbestos Inspector License, and NIOSH 582 Microscopy Training
• Preferred: Applicable certifications/licenses in Mold, Lead, Air Sampling; OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required
• Ability to pass medical approval by Company physician post-offer
• Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a team environment

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Perform sedentary work requiring exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
• Visual acuity.
• Hearing and talking to perceive the expression and exchange of ideas.
• Walk and climb over rough terrain.
• Perform moderate physical tasks.
• Work in inclement weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Work around potential hazardous or noxious materials and be able and willing to don personal protective equipment.
