DENTAL HYGIENIST
JOB SUMMARY:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, promoting dental health by providing professional dental hygiene services. The Dental Hygienist performs related duties as assigned by dental director and staff dentists in compliance with all regulations of the Florida Board of Dentistry and OSHA.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Provides dental hygiene services at multi-site locations: dental prophylaxis, gross debridement’s, scaling and root planning, perio maintenance, applies fluoride, sealant placement, cleans and polishes appliances
- Takes impressions, pours models, assists with triaging
- Provides oral cancer screenings
- Exposes radiographs
- Educates patients by giving oral hygiene instruction and post-operative instructions
- Prepares treatment room for patient and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and procedures
- Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments
- Documents dental hygiene services by recording vital signs and medical and dental histories; adhere to proper charting protocols
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Dental Hygiene Degree, RDH
- Must have and maintain current Florida License in good standing
- CPR certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience

- Computer literacy

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and positive attitude
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual a plus
- Local anesthesia certification a plus
RELATIONSHIP REPORTING:
- Reports to the Dental Director and staff dentists
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff
- Be able to sit, stand, or view a computer screen for extended periods of time
- Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time
