Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, autism support, and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Maintain a safe environment by performing cleaning duties, ensuring proper hygiene standards are met in living spaces and common areas
- Document observations accurately in care records and participate in team meetings to update on resident progress or concerns
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in senior care settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in behavior or health status promptly
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and dementia or memory care practices
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting, assisting with transfers using Hoyer lifts, and manual handling safely and effectively
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and adherence to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with compassion, patience, and active listening abilities
- Basic first aid and CPR certification to respond confidently during emergencies
- Experience supporting individuals with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly valued
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in home health or community care environments
