Direct Support Staff
Monday thru Friday
8:30 am to 3 pm
True Connections is an Adult Day Program for adults with Intellectual Disabilities. We are a fun-loving group, looking for a staff person to join our team. Our focus is teaching and practicing social skills. Our clients enjoy playing games, doing weird science experiments and exploring the city of Davis. In this position you will have opportunities to be creative and provide a positive influence to our clients. Do you have a talent or hobby you would like to share? Preference will be given to individuals who have an artistic flair, or can lead some type of exercise. We are looking for people to help our clients access and engage in the community. You will also drive and/or accompany clients on a variety of outings to bowling alleys, parks, restaurants, stores, movie theaters, Old Sacramento, Malls and many other special places. Additionally, staff helps cook healthy lunches Monday thru Thursday for clients and themselves.
With the position you will receive sick leave, paid holidays, paid time off (depending on hours worked), we also provide lunch for staff Mondays thru Thursdays.
This position requires an employee to drive a motor vehicle including vehicles owned by True Connections, and/or drive your own personal vehicle to transport clients to various locations. Staff will receive mileage reimbursement while transporting clients.

Must be able to pass a background check. Must have a driver’s license. Must have a car in safe operating condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Is responsible for direct contact with program participants
- Assuring client safety, comfort and well-being
- Assist with community integration
- Motivate and engage clients’ participation in all activities of the day i.e.: social, recreational, and physical
- Provide quality services and care to the people we support
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client information
- Assist in establishing a positive environment and respond to the individual need of clients
- Driving clients in the company vehicle, or your personal vehicle to activities in the community in a safe manner
- Following protocols and procedures to maintain a healthy and safe environment
- Implement activities on the weekly schedule
- Grocery shopping and meal prep
- Provide assistance with planning and achieving client specific goals. Including but not limited to : community integration, self-advocacy, use of public transportation, healthy lifestyle choices, money management, and social skills
- Ensure clients rights are not violated
- Communicate, collaborate and coordinate with team members to ensure client needs and goals are met
Responsible for:
- Assisting staff with room set up
- Checking daily schedule and client schedules
- Assisting clients during activities
- Direct supervision of clients during activities and outings
- Modeling good social skills
- Leading positive communication groups
- Strict adherence to confidentiality policy

Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED
Knowledge, Ability and Skill
Knowledge: knowledge of special populations
Ability: communicate effectively with the public. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with special needs populations. Flexibility to adapt to changes and remain positive.
Skills: proficiency in the use of computers and tablets.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19
Must have current California driver’s license. Valid auto insurance and current registration. Clean DMV record.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
Frequent physical activity throughout the workday is required; strength and ability to participate in carrying out all activities, including exercise. Must be able to reach, stand and walk for long periods of time. All physical senses i.e. smell, sight, etc must be adequate.
Work Environment
Active environment, moderate noise level, trips out to the Davis community.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- No nights
- No weekends
