Location: Washington, DC , CNRIC campus (On-site)

Job Type: Part-Time (with potential for growth)

About Us

True Bearing Diagnostics is a biotechnology company developing a novel RNA-based blood test platform (TruNAV™) designed to transform infection diagnostics. Our approach leverages host-response biology and digital PCR technologies to enable earlier, more accurate detection of infection type and severity.

We are a mission-driven, early-stage company working with leading clinical partners to advance toward FDA clearance and commercialization.

Position Overview

We are seeking a meticulous, highly detail-oriented Laboratory Technician with hands-on experience in digital PCR (dPCR/ddPCR) and molecular biology workflows. This individual will play a key role in supporting documentation creation and upkeep, sample kit building, shipping and receiving of kits and samples and lab supplies, validation work, assay execution, sample processing, and laboratory operations as we build and scale our testing capabilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a startup environment and is interested in contributing to the development of a first-in-class diagnostic platform.

This person also needs to enjoy repetitive benchwork in a wet lab setting with consistency and accuracy as a top priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dPCR/ddPCR assays, including sample preparation, droplet generation, amplification, and data acquisition
  • Execute molecular biology workflows, including RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and qPCR/dPCR setup
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental logs and sample tracking
  • Assist in assay optimization, validation, and quality control processes
  • Support CLIA laboratory readiness, including documentation, SOP development, and compliance processes
  • Manage laboratory organization, reagents, and inventory
  • Collaborate with scientific leadership to ensure high-quality, reproducible results

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field (or higher degree)
  • Hands-on experience with dPCR or ddPCR platforms
  • Strong wet lab skills (pipetting, nucleic acid handling, assay setup)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain thorough and accurate documentation

Preferred:

  • Experience with RNA-based assays
  • Familiarity with CLIA laboratory processes, validation, and regulatory documentation
  • Experience with assay development or clinical laboratory environments
  • Exposure to sequencing technologies (NGS or related workflows)
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, early-stage company

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge diagnostic platform
  • Close collaboration with experienced scientific and executive leadership
  • Flexible, part-time schedule (initially ~10 hours/week, with potential to expand)
  • Meaningful role in a company advancing toward clinical and regulatory milestones
