Job Overview
A growing, highly engineered manufacturing company serving the aerospace and defense industry is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead its accounting operations and serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership. This is not a maintenance role. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, solves problems proactively, and continuously improves financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Cost Accounting
- Payroll
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Prepare financial statements, KPIs, forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses
- Partner with Operations to improve inventory accuracy, production costing, and profitability
- Drive process improvements, internal controls, and financial reporting accuracy
- Support internal and external audits while maintaining compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory requirements
- Provide financial modeling and analysis to support executive decision-making
- Ensure ERP system integrity and continuous improvement of financial processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong cost accounting and inventory accounting experience
- Experience with ERP systems in manufacturing
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or MBA
- Experience with Infor XA / MAPICS
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, SOX, ITAR, or similar compliance frameworks
