Position Summary

TruCare Pharmacy is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Long-Term Care Staff Pharmacist to join our growing team on a part-time/PRN basis. This position is ideal for pharmacists looking for a flexible schedule while practicing in a collaborative, closed-door long-term care pharmacy environment—without the demands of traditional retail practice.

The Long-Term Care Staff Pharmacist plays an essential role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications while partnering with nursing staff, prescribers, and pharmacy technicians to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care to residents of skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care facilities.

This position primarily provides weekday coverage for vacations, increased workload, and staffing needs. As TruCare Pharmacy continues to grow, there may be opportunities for additional hours for pharmacists interested in expanding their schedule.

Schedule

  • Part-time/PRN position
  • Typically 1–2 days per week, based on staffing needs
  • Primarily weekday coverage
  • Occasional Saturday shifts as needed
  • No current Sunday or on-call responsibilities for PRN pharmacists
  • Pharmacists averaging more than 20 hours per week may become eligible to participate in the pharmacy's on-call rotation
  • As the pharmacy grows, additional opportunities for weekday evening coverage (up to 8:00 PM) and limited Sunday afternoon coverage (1:00–5:00 PM) may become available for those interested

Current Pharmacy Hours

  • Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Sunday: Closed

Essential Responsibilities

  • Verify and accurately dispense prescriptions in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Review new admissions, medication orders, and prescription changes for accuracy and clinical appropriateness.
  • Evaluate medication therapy for allergies, drug interactions, duplicate therapy, dosing accuracy, and other clinical concerns.
  • Provide medication recommendations and clinical support to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Answer medication-related questions from long-term care facilities and pharmacy staff.
  • Perform medication regimen reviews and document clinical interventions as appropriate.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians to promote safe and efficient workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in maintaining timely medication turnaround and exceptional service to partner facilities.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Perform other pharmacist duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree
  • Active Arkansas Pharmacist License (or eligible for Arkansas licensure prior to employment)
  • Minimum of two years of pharmacist experience in retail, hospital, or long-term care pharmacy
  • Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous long-term care pharmacy experience
  • Experience with QS/1 pharmacy software
  • Knowledge of long-term care pharmacy regulations and workflow

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent use of computers and pharmacy dispensing equipment
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements required for prescription verification and dispensing

Compensation

  • $50.00–$60.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Part-time/PRN position (benefits not included)
