We are seeking a dynamic Public Affairs Specialist to join an outstanding organization in the downtown Los Angeles area. This position will lead community engagement and outreach initiatives across the region. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives on building partnerships, delivering impactful presentations, and supporting career education programs that serve diverse communities. This opportunity is a long term contract role to start immediately.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and strengthen relationships with regional partners, community-based organizations, educational institutions, and local governments.
- Develop subject matter expertise in career education (K-12, young adult, community colleges, universities).
- Expand and deepen partnerships with Employment Development Departments (EDDs), member agencies, cities, and veterans organizations.
- Organize and facilitate community workshops, resume/interview skills webinars, and coordinate tours with internal partners.
- Represent the organization at local job fairs and cultural events to increase industry awareness.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to educational, community, and civic groups.
- Assist in coordinating outreach programs that strengthen community connections.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience,
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Demonstrated experience in public/community outreach and event coordination.
- Personable, flexible, and a proven team player with the ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Salary : $47 - $51
