Job Summary
Truax Patient Services is seeking a dedicated, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Full-Time Pharmacist to join our growing team. Truax is a closed-door pharmacy where the Staff Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of prescription medications while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This position works closely with pharmacy technicians, leadership, healthcare providers, and patients to support a variety of patient access and specialty pharmacy programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and interpret prescription orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness.
- Evaluate prescriptions for potential drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, duplicate therapies, and dosing accuracy.
- Accurately dispense prescription medications in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws and company policies.
- Provide patient counseling and medication education when appropriate.
- Communicate professionally with prescribers, healthcare providers, manufacturers, and patients to resolve prescription-related issues.
- Supervise, direct, and support pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA regulations, HIPAA, and all applicable pharmacy laws.
- Maintain accurate documentation and prescription records.
- Assist with inventory management, controlled substance accountability, and medication storage requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance, medication safety, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Support specialty pharmacy, patient assistance, and mail-order pharmacy operations.
- Assist with accreditation standards, including URAC, NABP, and other regulatory requirements as applicable.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, required training, and continuing education.
- Perform other duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with pharmacy software systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in specialty pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, or patient support services.
- Experience with pharmacy management software and electronic health records.
- Knowledge of patient assistance programs, manufacturer-sponsored pharmacy programs, and third-party billing.
- Familiarity with URAC, NABP, and other accreditation standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements, including keyboarding and prescription verification.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and coworkers.
