Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Night Auditor to join our team at Tru by Hilton Gastonia. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth hotel operations during overnight hours by managing front desk activities, completing night audit procedures, and providing excellent guest service. When hotel management is not on property, the Night Auditor serves as the Manager on Duty.
Essential Functions
- Perform guest check-in and check-out procedures, including calculating and collecting payments.
- Conduct nightly audit procedures, ensuring accuracy of financial transactions and reports.
- Complete shift reports and verify all financial activity, including credit card processing, in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate room status and reservation inventory.
- Respond to guest inquiries regarding hotel services, amenities, reservations, local attractions, and directions.
- Answer and route telephone calls; handle messages and other communications professionally.
- Act as Manager on Duty during overnight hours in the absence of the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and Front Desk Supervisor.
- Address guest concerns, special requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Greet and acknowledge guests in a friendly and welcoming manner at the front desk and in public areas.
- Maintain safety and security by observing activity and involving appropriate personnel or agencies when necessary.
- Report, document, and secure lost-and-found items according to hotel procedures.
- Assist other departments as needed, which may include operating the courtesy van or supporting breakfast, laundry, or housekeeping functions.
- Demonstrate teamwork and flexibility, including the ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proficiency in Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using standard office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, printers, and electronic key systems.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on guest service.
- Sound judgment with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
- Compliance with all locally required certifications.
