Roll Operator
Location – Tulsa, OK
Pay: $18–$25 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Roll Operator to join a fabrication team in Tulsa, OK. This position is responsible for setting up and operating heavy-duty plate rolling equipment to form steel plate into cylinders, cones, and other rolled components used in pipeline and industrial manufacturing. The ideal candidate has experience working with plate steel (not sheet metal) and takes pride in producing quality work safely and efficiently.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate plate rolling machines to form heavy steel plate to engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work orders.
- Measure, inspect, and verify finished parts for dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Perform machine adjustments to achieve proper diameter, radius, and tolerances.
- Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to safely move heavy steel plates.
- Work closely with welders, fitters, and shop personnel to meet production schedules.
- Inspect materials before and after rolling for defects or inconsistencies.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and quality standards.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience operating plate roll equipment required.
- Experience rolling plate material (heavy steel) required; sheet metal experience alone is not sufficient.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and material properties.
- Experience using measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, and squares.
- Overhead crane experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Reliable attendance and a positive team-oriented attitude.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and walk throughout the workday.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly (heavier materials moved with lifting equipment).
- Work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment, steel plate, and overhead cranes while wearing required PPE.
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
