What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Study Abroad position at Troy University?
The Study Abroad Director position in International Programs is responsible for organizing and conducting workshops for students and faculty on Study Abroad opportunities; promoting the Study Abroad program through internet, printed materials, class presentations, and other mediums; organizing and conducting a Study Abroad fair each fall and spring; evaluating and recommending changes to policies and procedures for the Study Abroad program; evaluating each Study Abroad activity or event; organizing and leading at least one Study Abroad program each year; maintaining a physical and electronic library of Study Abroad opportunities; conducting pre-Study Abroad and post-Study Abroad workshops for each group or individual; maintaining the Study Abroad program website; assisting any faculty member seeking to organize a Study Abroad event; developing emergency protocols for the Study Abroad program; and serving as the point of contact for any emergencies concerning the Study Abroad program.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field
2. Experience in creating and maintaining websites
3. Knowledge of personal computer systems with demonstrated skills in website development and maintenance, word processing, database management, and email
4. Knowledge of successful strategies and practices for marketing to, recruiting, and serving university students
5. Knowledge of legal requirements pertaining to student travel abroad
6. Skill to write and deliver effective oral presentations and respond to questions from a wide variety of on and off campus groups and individuals
7. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external customers via phone, email, fax, and in person
Preferred Qualifications
