Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician specializing in Tele-Optometry Support to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical history and verifying insurance information while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including tonometers for intraocular pressure testing, ensuring proper aseptic technique.
- Support remote optometrist by preparing patients for tele-optometry exams, including setting up necessary equipment and guiding patients through procedures.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems accurately, documenting clinical findings and patient interactions thoroughly.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information and medical records with integrity.
- Assist in the training of new staff on medical equipment operation, medical terminology, and clinic protocols related to ophthalmology.
- Support front desk activities such as scheduling appointments, verifying patient information.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in patient care within an ophthalmology or optometry setting; clinic experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and ophthalmic procedures such as tonometry.
- Familiarity with medical office operations including EMR/EHR systems.
- Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times.
- Competency in operating medical equipment safely and effectively while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Ability to communicate clearly using medical terminology with patients and healthcare professionals alike.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced clinic environment.
