Role Description

This position may be structured as either employed or contract and is based in LaGrange, GA. The Executive Director will serve in a leadership and administrative capacity handling the day-to-day operations of the TROUP STRATEGY CENTER. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, build partnerships with community stakeholders, and manage initiatives that align with the organization’s mission. The role includes financial oversight, program development, stakeholder engagement, and reporting on progress against organizational objectives.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, marketing, communications or related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies that support organizational goals and community initiatives
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas and present information in engaging and effective ways
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills to represent the organization and its initiatives

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including community partners, business and industry leaders, and government representatives
  • Knowledge of social media content development and communication strategies to share information with the community
  • Outgoing personality with a professional and approachable demeanor

Project Management and Operations:

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a collaborative team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks to support operational needs
  • Skills in managing resources, coordinating initiatives, and tracking performance metrics to drive programs forward.

Financial Oversight:

  • General understanding of financial management practices and guidelines
  • Experience maintaining financial records and supporting financial processes such as budgeting and invoice management
  • Familiarity with grant development procedures and funding application requirements
  • Fundraising experience preferred

Knowledge of Community Development:

  • Familiarity with community partners and the ability to build networks that support local initiatives
  • Awareness of workforce trends and population demographics that influence community development
  • Understanding of local and regional partnerships and initiatives that influence community development in Troup County.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to maximize participation by public, private, and government stakeholders in community initiatives
  • Build and maintain partnerships while facilitating dialogue and collaboration among community groups, key individuals, business and industry leaders, and relevant state agencies.
  • Serve as chief spokesperson for the Center and make presentations on behalf of the organization, its programs and new initiatives
  • Provide leadership and administrative support to strategic planning initiatives and related programs of the Center.
  • Work with the Center for Strategic Planning Board of Directors to implement and evaluate community priorities and goals
  • Coordinate with Troup County Government administration to fulfill all responsibilities associated with the Center’s partnership with Troup County
  • Maintain all corporate and financial records of the Center
  • Develop budgets, receive and process invoices, and prepare checks for signature in accordance with the Center's financial policies.
  • Coordinate with IT support to update and maintain the Center’s website
  • Work with the Chairman of the Board of Directors to plan and conduct board meetings while ensuring compliance with Open Meetings requirements.
  • Collaborate with outside consultants on strategies and initiatives and community projects
  • Foster awareness and understanding of workforce trends and population demographics impacting the community
  • Support grant development efforts and maintain familiarity with grant application processes and funding requirements
  • Handle confidential matters with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
