Job Title: Special Education Aide- Elem Lifeskills
Campus: Troup Elementary School
Primary Purpose:
Help special education teacher and/or general education teacher by providing inclusion
support for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in general education
and/or special education setting.
Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management;
and, assist in making curriculum accessible to students at their learning level.
Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work with young children and students with significant disabilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to implement behavior intervention plans and use positive behavior supports
Ability to provide personal care, feeding, or toileting assistance as needed
Must work well with active children
Must be dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing classroom needs
Experience:
Prior experience with children preferred
Prior experience with personal care preferred
