Firearms Instructor – Women’s Training & Beginner Programs
Trouble Defense LLC is looking for an experienced, personable, and safety-focused Firearms Instructor to join our growing training team in the Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland area.
This instructor will primarily support our women’s firearm training programs, beginner firearm courses, private lessons, range sessions, and special training events.
Trouble Defense has been providing professional firearm safety and personal protection training since 2012. Our goal is to make firearm education approachable, professional, practical, and confidence-building—especially for students who may be handling a firearm for the first time.
What You’ll Do
* Assist with and lead firearm safety and shooting courses
* Work with beginner and first-time firearm owners
* Support women-focused firearm training programs and events
* Conduct individual and small-group range instruction
* Teach safe firearm handling, loading, unloading, storage, and basic marksmanship
* Help students build confidence and become comfortable around firearms
* Assist with classroom demonstrations and hands-on training
* Maintain a professional, patient, and welcoming learning environment
* Follow all Trouble Defense safety procedures and training standards
* Travel to training locations throughout Northern Virginia and, when needed, the greater DMV area
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal instructor is someone who is:
* Extremely safety-conscious
* Patient and comfortable teaching beginners
* Professional and dependable
* Confident communicating with individuals and groups
* Able to make nervous or inexperienced students feel comfortable
* Knowledgeable about firearm safety and basic shooting fundamentals
* Comfortable working with students from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience levels
* Willing to travel to different training locations when needed
Preferred Qualifications
* NRA Instructor certification or comparable professional firearm instructor credentials
* Range Safety Officer certification
* Concealed-carry instructor credentials
* Previous firearm instruction or coaching experience
* Experience teaching women, first-time gun owners, or beginner shooters
* Military, law-enforcement, security, competition, or professional firearms-training experience is a plus
