As a tanning salon operations manager, you will be overseeing all aspects of the business, from daily operations and staff management to financial performance and customer service
You would be responsible for driving sales, creating a positive work environment, and ensuring the salon runs smoothly and efficiently.
Core responsibilities: Operational management
- Oversee day-to-day operations: Ensure the salon maintains high standards for cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and safety.
- Manage inventory: Order and track supplies, retail products, and equipment to ensure items are always in stock but without over-ordering.
- Maintain equipment: Coordinate maintenance and repairs for tanning beds and other equipment.
- Run reports: Utilize operational tools and financial reports to track performance, identify trends, and address issues.
Staff leadership
- Recruit and hire: Interview, hire, and onboard new employees.
- Train and develop: Provide staff with training on sales, customer service, equipment usage, and product knowledge.
- Create schedules: Prepare work schedules and assign tasks to ensure adequate coverage and productivity.
- Supervise and motivate: Conduct performance assessments, provide coaching and feedback, and motivate staff to achieve sales goals and deliver exceptional customer service.
Business and financial oversight
- Drive sales: Implement strategies to meet and exceed sales and profitability goals.
- Manage finances: Handle daily cash operations, manage payroll, and control expenses to stay within budget.
- Market the business: Create and implement promotional campaigns and marketing activities to attract new customers.
Customer service
- Resolve complaints: Address client complaints and concerns calmly and gracefully to ensure satisfaction.
- Elevate the customer experience: Create a welcoming atmosphere and ensure a high level of customer service is delivered consistently.
Essential skills and qualifications
- Experience: Previous management and sales experience is required, and experience in the beauty or tanning industry is a plus.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills: The ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team, resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively.
- Business acumen: Knowledge of basic accounting, inventory management, and marketing to ensure the salon's profitability.
- Organizational skills: Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards: Understanding and enforcing health and safety regulations pertinent to tanning equipment and salon operations.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, a college degree in business management is a plus. Be able to obtain salon operator certification within 30 days of hiring (Sun Is Life, Smart Tan, etc)
