Summary
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests and members in and around the pool. This role actively monitors water conditions, enforces safety rules, responds to emergencies, and delivers a high level of guest service in alignment with Juniper Preserve standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain constant surveillance of guests in the pool and surrounding areas
- Enforce all pool rules and safety regulations in a consistent and professional manner
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid situations
- Administer CPR, AED, and First Aid as needed
- Conduct routine safety checks of the pool, deck, and equipment
- Ensure proper water conditions by monitoring cleanliness and reporting any concerns
- Open and close aquatic facilities in accordance with operational procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of pool deck, restrooms, and surrounding areas
- Provide excellent guest service by assisting guests and answering questions
- Complete incident and accident reports accurately and promptly
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and Oregon health and safety regulations
Required:
- Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross, Ellis, or equivalent) or the ability to obtain
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- Strong observational and decision-making skills
- Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations
- Excellent communication and guest service skills
- Previous lifeguarding experience in a resort, hotel, or recreational setting
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to swim, rescue, and lift individuals from the water (up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including sun and heat
- Clear vision and hearing to monitor pool activity and respond to emergencies
