The Aquatics and Pools Manager/ Swim Coach oversees daily aquatics operations and leads swim team and instructional programs. This dual role combines leadership in pool management, safety supervision, and staff coordination with hands-on coaching for competitive and recreational swim programs. The position ensures a safe, clean, and engaging environment for members and guests while fostering excellence and enjoyment in swimming programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the club’s pools, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and compliance with all facility and health regulations.
- Communicate regularly with the contracted pool service company to ensure proper maintenance and water chemistry.
- Organize and coaching daily swim practice & meets
- Conduct daily inspections of pool areas and equipment; report and resolve safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Manage guest check-in and provide a welcoming, high-quality member experience.
- Maintain pool deck cleanliness, including debris removal, furniture upkeep, and surface cleaning.
- Monitor water quality and temperature; assist with maintenance scheduling and vendor coordination.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Recruit, schedule, and supervise lifeguards and aquatics staff to ensure proper coverage during operational hours and programs.
- Lead staff meetings and in-service training focused on safety, emergency procedures, and customer service.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and conflict resolution to promote a positive team environment.
Swim Coaching & Instruction
- Plan, organize, and conduct swim practices, clinics, and private lessons for various ages and skill levels.
- Develop seasonal training plans and meet schedules for the club’s swim team.
- Coach practices and attend all home and away swim meets; organize meet entries and team logistics.
- Provide regular feedback to swimmers and communicate progress and updates to parents.
- Attend swim team social events to foster team culture and engagement.
Program & Event Management
- Assist with developing new aquatics programs and events, including lessons, fitness classes, and special events.
- Oversee swim meets, pool parties, and aquatics events, ensuring seamless operation and participant satisfaction.
- Support budget monitoring, program registration, and financial reporting for assigned aquatics programs.
Customer Service & Communication
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to member inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Communicate regularly with members, swimmers, and families about schedules, events, and updates.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, or related field preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in aquatic supervision, coaching, or instruction required.
- Prior experience managing aquatics staff or programs strongly preferred.
Certifications:
- Current Lifeguard Certification (StarGuard, Red Cross, or equivalent).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (training available upon hire).
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification preferred.
- ASCA Swim Coach Certification preferred.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to swim distances, perform water rescues, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to see and hear distress signals and remain alert in a busy pool environment.
Work Environment:
- Frequently outdoors and exposed to sun and humidity.
- May work near pool chemicals and mechanical equipment.
- The noise level is moderate to high, depending on the activity level.
