Position Overview
The Used Car Acquisition Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing quality pre-owned vehicles through auctions and digital marketplaces. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the right inventory mix to support dealership sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and acquire pre-owned vehicles through auctions, wholesalers, private sellers, and online platforms
- Evaluate vehicles using market data, vehicle history reports, and physical inspections
- Negotiate purchase prices to ensure profitability and competitive inventory
- Monitor market trends, pricing guides, and competitor inventory
- Work closely with the sales and management teams to maintain optimal inventory levels
- Utilize digital buying platforms and appraisal tools
- Manage relationships with auction houses, wholesalers, and independent sellers
- Track acquisitions and maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing
Qualifications
- Automotive buying or used car appraisal experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of vehicle values, market trends, and auction processes
- Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills
- Ability to analyze market data and inventory performance
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable working with digital vehicle acquisition tools and platforms
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
