Position Overview:
As a Lead Painter at Trombley Painting, you are more than a skilled artisan; you are a leader, a mentor, and the on-site representative of our company. This role is reserved for a journeyman with extensive experience and proven leadership, responsible for the flawless execution of projects from start to finish. You will be entrusted with managing job sites, mentoring apprentices, and ensuring every detail of our work reflects the Trombley standard of excellence.

Key Responsibilities & Leadership Expectations:

  • Job Site Leadership & Management: Take full responsibility for the daily workflow, quality control, and safety of your crew and job site. You are the primary point of contact for clients and other trades on-site, representing our company with professionalism.

· Safety Champion: Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards. Enforce strict adherence to company safety policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ladder safety, electrical safety, and the safe operation of all tools and equipment. Conduct pre-start safety briefings with your crew as needed.

  • Advanced Project Execution: Expertly manage all aspects of residential and commercial painting projects, including complex exterior and interior work, high-end cabinet finishing, and delicate decorative finishes.
  • Mentorship & Training: Actively train, coach, and develop Apprentices and other crew members. Foster a culture of learning, patience, and continuous improvement, sharing your knowledge of techniques, product application, and tool use.
  • Pre-Planning & Preparation: Implement and champion the "Pre-Plan to Win" protocol. The night before a job, you are responsible for reviewing the project scope, verifying all materials, and ensuring your crew has the tools and information needed for an efficient and productive start.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform final inspections of all work performed by your team, ensuring it meets the stringent quality standards of Trombley Painting before the client review.
  • Communication: Maintain clear, professional, and proactive communication with company owners, your crew, and clients regarding project status, potential challenges, and timelines.
  • Tool & Equipment Oversight: Ensure all personal and company equipment on your site is properly maintained, operated safely, and stored correctly.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional painting experience as a Journeyman.
  • Extensive, proven knowledge of paint products, substrates, and the correct application techniques for a wide range of materials and scenarios.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage a crew, delegate tasks, and maintain a positive and productive team environment.
  • Proven track record of training and mentoring less experienced painters.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Punctuality and professional demeanor are paramount.

Required Personal Tool Kit:
Lead Painters are expected to provide and maintain a comprehensive set of tools, including all items required for an Apprentice (listed in the Apprentice Job Description) plus the following professional-grade equipment:

  • Spray Housing (Spray Shelter)
  • Blow Dryer (for surface preparation)
  • Electric Sander (orbital and/or detail)
  • Respirator (with appropriate cartridges for vapors/particulates)
  • White Pants (professional work attire)
  • Airless Sprayer
  • Assorted Spray Tips (including fine-finish tips for cabinets)
  • Fan (for ventilation and drying)

Compensation & Conditions:

  • This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Hours and job sites may vary based on project needs.
