Job Summary
Our law firm is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to assist with the financial operations of the firm and related private entities. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping and accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive financial information.
This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, assisting with payroll, and supporting the overall financial health of the firm. Experience with law firm accounting practices, trust accounts, and multiple business entities is highly preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for the law firm and affiliated private entities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments and client invoicing
- Perform bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and general ledger reconciliations
- Record and process journal entries using QuickBooks or other accounting software
- Assist with payroll processing and related reporting
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports
- Monitor expenses and assist with budgeting and account analysis
- Maintain organized financial files and records while ensuring confidentiality
- Assist with tax preparation coordination and compliance with accounting standards
- Handle trust account/IOLTA reconciliation experience (preferred)
- Communicate with vendors, accountants, and management regarding financial matters
- Perform additional bookkeeping and administrative financial duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience required
- Experience working with a law firm or professional office preferred
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and payroll processing
- Understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Ability to manage multiple accounts/entities with strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
