Primary Functions:

Under general supervision from the Director, the Financial Aid Advisor (FAA) is responsible for counseling and advising financial aid applicants, their families, and the general public about financial aid requirements, eligibility criteria, and its availability. The FAA manages a caseload of students as assigned. The Financial Aid Advisor assists in the administration of federal aid programs available to all students. The Financial Aid Advisor maintains ongoing communication with students.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred.

· Position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

· Individual should be a self- starter and effective in working as part of a team.

· Financial Aid experience is preferred.

Job Specific Competencies:

· Must be competent in Microsoft Office.

· Experience with financial aid software and student information systems is a plus.

· Excellent verbal and written skills required.

· Attention to detail is important.

· Must be able to work with diverse populations and possess strong customer service skills.

· Commitment to enriching the lives of students by promoting a positive learning environment; enhancing the quality of the student experience; and philosophically supporting programs and policies that facilitate student success

Essential Job Responsibilities:

· Provide financial aid counseling to students and families regarding application procedures and eligibility requirements for various student aid programs including

grants, loans and scholarships

· Assist student with completion of application forms.

· Process financial aid; including file review, application verification, need analysis, use of professional judgment and financial aid packaging.

· Assist the Director with returning of federal loans or grants and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) based on student enrollment status

· Educate students and their families about financial literacy, debt management and maintaining good academic standing

· Represent the Financial Aid Office at various on and off-campus recruiting functions, financial aid information sessions, and internal committee meetings as assigned.

· Attends training and webinars to keep current with regulations.

· Regular updating of the college's financial aid webpages as needed.

· Completes other duties as assigned by the director.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced office to meet exceptional customer service and operational demands. Some evening and weekend work is required. Occasional travel to attend financial aid workshops or training is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
