Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Team Lead, you will operate and maintain automated production equipment to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery goals in a high-volume setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety leadership: follow policies, complete 5S/housekeeping and vehicle checks, and actively report incidents and near-misses within the plant Safety Program.
- Quality ownership: uphold Positive Release standards; use gauges and inspection tools; identify defects, adjust equipment, document findings, and enter data into quality systems.
- Production control: run multiple machines in continuous production; prevent stoppages, minimize waste, and sustain OEE.
- Documentation: complete required charting and production records accurately and on time.
- Improvement mindset: propose process enhancements and support CI teams to reduce operating costs and eliminate waste.
- Compliance: work to the BRC Food Safety Policy, GMPs, HACCP Principle, ISO14001, and OSHA requirements.
- Standards development: contribute to drafting and refining SOPs and work instructions.
- Automation: operate within highly automated cells, including robotic equipment.
- Reliability: perform and record daily/weekly/monthly maintenance activities.
- Projects: assist with trial runs (SMA’s), equipment installs, overhauls, and upgrades.
- Support: operate forklifts as required and provide break relief.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude; strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational abilities; attention to detail.
- 2 years’ high-volume manufacturing experience preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer/math skills to interpret drawings, review specifications and work instructions, and report line performance.
- Working knowledge of measurement and inspection devices.
- Willingness to work 8- or 12-hour shifts, day or off-shifts, plus weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Adaptability to evolving initiatives.
Physical Requirements & Schedule
- Average workweek alternates 36/48 hours; usual shift is 12 hours.
- Regular standing and walking; frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; occasional non-permit-required confined space work (with training).
- Frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs; good hand/eye coordination; close and distance vision with color recognition.
