The primary role will be a METTS technician supporting the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center’s Structural Dynamics Test Branch (ET40) research and development, configuration and maintenance of test article systems and testing infrastructure. Duties include but are not limited to supporting Structural Dynamic instrumentation installation and wiring, high speed video setup and data acquisition, flight hardware and program critical hardware handling and lift planning, vibration/acoustic test setup and execution. The candidate will receive direction from the Department Manager or ET40 Team Lead. The candidate will perform other duties as required to fulfill the mission of the MSFC Structural Dynamics Test Branch. Duties Include (but Are Not Limited To)
- Constructing components, subunits, or simple models of standard equipment
- Trouble shooting & correcting malfunctions
- Following specific layout/diagrams to construct and package simple devices/equipment
- Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgements in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data
- Extracting/compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports & then processing data to identify errors/inconsistencies
- Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operations failures and modifications & using judgement/initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data to clarify information
Minimum Qualifications:
- US Citizenship required
- Preferred 3 years of relative experience in vibration/acoustic test setup and execution.
- Experience should include a working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Windows Operating. Systems (OS) for personal computers and MS Office products.
- Must be proficient in Soldering, Crimping, Wire-Wrapping, and Fabricating Cables
- Experience installing and verification of Instrumentation such as Accelerometers, Pressure Transducers, Thermocouples, High Speed Video setup and Data Acquisition.
- Buildup, Configuration, and Maintenance of Structural Dynamics Test Instrumentation Systems and the associated Structural Dynamics Test Data Collecting and Testing Infrastructure
- Must possess basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and possess good communication and customer service skills. Detailed and highly organized a must.
- High School diploma (or equivalent)
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office product with expertise in Excel and PowerPoint
