JOB SUMMARY:
The E&I QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation installations, materials, and testing activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements. This role supports construction activities through inspection, verification, documentation, and coordination with project teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant systems.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspection & Verification
- Perform inspections of electrical and instrumentation installations including:
- Cable tray, conduit, and cable pulling
- Terminations and splicing
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level devices)
- Control panels, junction boxes, and marshalling cabinets
- Verify installations meet IFC drawings, specifications, and standards such as NFPA, NEC, and IEC.
Testing & Commissioning Support
- Witness and document testing activities including:
- Insulation resistance (megger) testing
- Continuity checks
- Loop checks and functional testing
- Calibration verification of instruments
- Review test packages and ensure completeness prior to turnover.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain:
- Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
- Quality checklists and inspection reports
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and punch lists
- Ensure all documentation aligns with project QA/QC requirements and turnover packages.
Material Control
- Verify material receipt and compliance with specifications:
- Check certifications (MTRs, calibration certificates)
- Ensure proper storage and handling of sensitive equipment
Code Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with:
- Project specifications and client standards
- Industry codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, NFPA)
- Local/state regulatory requirements
Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with:
- Construction teams
- Engineering and design teams
- Commissioning and startup teams
- Participate in daily walkdowns and quality meetings.
Non-Conformance Management
- Identify and document quality issues
- Track corrective actions and verify closure of NCRs
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical degree or certification in Electrical/Instrumentation preferred
Experience
- 5 years of E&I inspection experience in industrial construction (oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or renewables)
- Experience with EPC project environments preferred
Certifications (Preferred)
- NICET (Electrical or Instrumentation)
- OSHA 10/30
- Electrical license
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong understanding of:
- Electrical systems (low/medium voltage)
- Instrumentation and control systems
- P&IDs, loop diagrams, and wiring schematics
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes, ITPs, and turnover documentation
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Proficient in QA/QC software and reporting tools
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Field-based role on active construction sites
- Requires walking, climbing, and working in various weather conditions
May require extended hours, shift work, or travel depending on project needs
