Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques.
- Manage complex patient care procedures such as IV infusions, catheterizations, wound suturing, and ventilator management.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, discharge planning, and long-term care strategies in settings like assisted living, nursing homes, or hospice environments.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and basic diagnostic testing such as phlebotomy or gastric lavage.
- Provide patient education on health coaching topics including medication administration, nutrition, pain management, and disease prevention tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate coding using ICD-10/ICD-9 standards for billing and record-keeping purposes.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state of practice with current CPR/BLS certification.
- Proven experience in critical care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for comprehensive patient assessment and diagnosis.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator care), geriatrics (memory care & dementia), behavioral health patients or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Skilled in acute pain management, infection control protocols, trauma medicine, occupational health procedures, and hospice/palliative care practices.
- Ability to perform technical skills such as IV insertion, venipuncture (phlebotomy), sterile processing techniques, ostomy care, and tube feeding management.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments in urgent care or emergency room environments; capable of working efficiently under pressure in fast-paced inpatient or outpatient settings.
