Job Summary And Qualifications

The Central Sterile Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and assisting in daily evaluation of sterile processing services.

What you will do in this role:

• Assign and evaluate the daily activities of Sterile Processing team.
• Coordinate equipment and supply needs.
• Coordinate staff development and orientation activities.
• Facilitate instrumentation and equipment needs for the daily OR schedule/patient care units and communicate effectively with other areas in the department and the hospital to ensure continuity of care.
• Interact with physicians and staff in a positive manner that encourages a team approach.
• Investigate patient, interdepartmental, and departmental problems that arise, evaluating the impact on the department and patient care. Keep the department director informed of problems and problem-solving activities in a timely manner. Seek solutions utilizing all available resources.
• Assist in the implementation and enforcement of hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge related to policies and procedures.
• Provide direct SP care activities based on the needs of the department.
• Work closely with the director in the establishment of new departmental policies and procedures. Assist in the implementation of JCAHO and other standards.
• Evaluate and recommend new equipment and or supplies based on department need.
• Ensure environmental cleanliness and organization of the department through the delegation of special assignments and duties.
• Complete the staff work and call schedules.
• Attend meetings as assigned.
• Timely preparation of any report or special project as requested by the director.
• Participate in and assist with the development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Program for the department.
  
  

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of RN or Surgical Technology Program required.
• 3 years of perioperative or related experience required.
• Previous management experience preferred.
• Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST) required within 1 year of hire.
