As the Hyperbaric Tech, under the general supervision of the Hyperbaric Physician and the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, you will assume responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the compression chamber system and supporting components. The Birth Center at TriStar Hendersonville, featuring Sumner County’s only Level II NICU services which hosts spacious LDRP suites and a lactation boutique for inpatient and outpatient services. In addition, our facility is Gold Seal Certified in Total Hip and Total with The Joint Commission.

Job Summary And Qualifications
As the Hyperbaric Tech, under the general supervision of the Hyperbaric Physician and the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, you will assume responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the compression chamber system and supporting components. All therapeutic and diagnostic modalities will be ordered by the Hyperbaric Physician.
What you will do in this role:
- Perform maintenance activities of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment, as directed.
- Responsible for the smooth and effective operations of the clerical, charge entry, admission/registration, patient scheduling, and benefits verification.
- Provide clinical oversight, input and monitoring related to the appropriate use of specialty beds and support surfaces.
- Provide clinical evaluation and recommendations related to advance wound care, ostomy, and skin care and incontinence products for the organization.
- Prepare the hyperbaric chamber, equipment and materials needed for patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen treatments.
- Implement the physician's orders as indicated by the patient's treatment plan. Verify that the patient's diagnosis is one of the appropriate approved conditions for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), through consultation with the hyperbaric physician, and that supporting documentation is present in the patient's medical record.
- Educate patient and family, if appropriate, as to the benefits, risks, contraindications, and safety issues of HBOT before treatment.
- Inspect the patient prior to the commencement of each HBOT session to ensure all safety standards are being adhered to, i.e. appropriate attire, no makeup, no hairspray, etc.
- Perform blood glucose monitoring, within scope of practice, as ordered and indicated. Perform quality control daily on department glucometer, per hospital policy.
- Operate the compression chamber and supporting components and maintain operating, maintenance, safety logs and other required documentation, as specified in department policy.
- Complete the patient's treatment charges on a daily basis. Perform data entry into the Clinical Management System and collate reports as requested by the Center Director, Clinical Manager and/or Medical Director.
- Must be credentialed or licensed in the state of Tennessee.
- Current license, certification, or training in one of the following qualifying vocations required: Registered Nurse (RN), Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), Registered Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner (RRT), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT), Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic (EMT) (EMT-P), Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare or the diving industry required.
- Wound care, hyperbaric medicine, and/or experience in emergency medicine or acute medical care highly preferred.
- Specific training and/or experience in compression chamber operations, including a demonstrated knowledge of decompression tables strongly preferred.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
