Generac Generator Service Technician – TriStar Electric (Jessup, MD)
Pay: $30–$37 per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview
We are seeking a technician with specific, hands-on experience servicing, maintaining, installing, diagnosing, and repairing Generac Residential Home Standby Generators, including:
Air-cooled models (natural gas or propane)
Liquid-cooled models up to 150 kW
The ideal candidate is capable of performing complete maintenance, professional installations, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and navigating the Generac warranty repair process (with support from our office staff).
This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, punctuality, organization, and the ability to interact positively with customers and our team.
Key Responsibilities
Generator Services
Perform full maintenance on all air-cooled and liquid-cooled Generac residential standby generators (up to 150 kW).
Professionally install new generator systems (natural gas or propane).
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair system issues with accuracy and efficiency.
Handle warranty repair processes with Generac (office support provided).
Maintain all necessary tools and equipment required for installation, repair, and maintenance tasks.
Field & Administrative Responsibilities
Use our CRM (Housecall Pro), with training provided, to complete job updates, communicate with the office, and close out tickets.
Upload before and after photos of every job.
Write clear, detailed job notes, including customer comments, observations, and work performed.
Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle, check fluids (e.g., oil), and report maintenance issues promptly.
Keep job sites clean and leave customers’ homes better than you found them.
Respond to occasional emergency service calls (only a few per year).
Professional Expectations
Arrive on time and be reachable throughout the day via a working cell phone.
Wear company-provided uniforms and maintain a professional appearance.
Drive safely and respectfully.
Interact courteously with customers and remain calm when dealing with difficult situations.
Work well with other technicians and office staff—teamwork and communication are essential.
Qualifications
Have an active Generac Air-Cooled or Liquid-Cooled Certification, or have at least held an active Certification/Tech ID.
Experience with Generac Home Standby Generators is required, including air-cooled and liquid-cooled models.
Ability to perform maintenance, installation, diagnostics, and repairs independently.
Knowledge of natural gas and propane generator systems.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Strong communication skills and professionalism in customer-facing situations.
Ability to use or quickly learn digital tools such as Housecall Pro or similar CRMs (e.g., ServiceTitan).
Must supply your own hand tools appropriate for generator service work (tool loan program available).
