Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development, integration, testing, and production of advanced aerospace and defense electronic systems, including unmanned aerial systems (UAS), counter-UAS platforms, circuit card assemblies (CCA), and mission-critical electronic hardware.
The successful candidate will lead electrical hardware development from concept through production, including schematic capture, ECAD design, circuit card integration, power system architecture, harness and cable design, component selection, manufacturing support, and system validation. This role requires close collaboration with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, reliability, software, and test engineering teams.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead electrical hardware development through requirements, design, analysis, integration, testing, qualification, and production support.
Develop and support Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), power distribution systems, embedded hardware, communications systems, and autonomous mission systems.
Perform schematic capture, ECAD design, circuit simulation, and electrical system documentation.
Support architecture development for power systems, communications interfaces, flight control systems, and embedded electronics.
Develop electrical load analysis, power budgets, and interface control documentation.
Manage Bill of Materials (BOM), component selection, sourcing, obsolescence management, and design releases.
Support connector selection, cable routing, flex circuits, wire harnesses, and interconnect design.
Participate in hardware integration, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and failure analysis.
Support prototype builds, qualification testing, environmental testing, and production line improvements.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) compliance.
Prepare engineering reports, test procedures, technical presentations, and customer-facing documentation.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 4 years of professional experience in electrical hardware design, aerospace, defense, avionics, unmanned systems, or related industries.
Experience with Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design, integration, and testing.
Experience with schematic capture and ECAD development.
Experience using Siemens Xpedition Designer, Xpedition Enterprise, Capital, or equivalent ECAD tools.
Experience with Cadence PSpice, LTSpice, or equivalent circuit simulation tools.
Experience with BOM development, component selection, and electrical hardware documentation.
Experience supporting prototype development, manufacturing, and production environments.
Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Ability to obtain or maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Counter-UAS (CUAS), UAV, UAS, drone, missile, aerospace, or defense programs.
Experience developing secondary power distribution systems.
Experience with battery management systems (BMS), electric propulsion systems, and power electronics.
Experience with communications systems, datalinks, RF systems, telemetry, and mission systems.
Experience with cable harnesses, flex circuits, and connector design.
Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, FPGA integration, and sensor interfaces.
Experience with Xilinx FPGA technologies including UltraScale devices.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, and aerospace qualification standards.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and concurrent engineering environments.
Experience supporting rapid prototyping and production line improvements.
