Duties
- Operate vac trucks and related heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and Caterpillar machinery to perform excavation, utility locating, and construction grading tasks
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections on vac trucks and construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and compliance with equipment safety procedures
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols during all operations to maintain a safe work environment
- Assist with construction utility work by locating underground utilities using utility locating techniques and ensuring safe excavation practices
- Perform construction site tasks including grading, backfilling, debris removal, and water truck operation for dust control and site preparation
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate equipment operation during complex projects requiring precision heavy equipment handling
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, safety checks, and operational logs
Requirements
- Proven experience operating vac trucks in a construction or utility setting with a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation standards.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Valid commercial driver’s license 2 years with a clean driving record; experience with commercial truck driving preferred
- Mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance and troubleshooting techniques
- Skilled in utility locating methods and excavation procedures following federal safety regulations
- Hands-on experience operating loaders, excavators (including backhoes), water trucks, and other construction machinery such as Caterpillar equipment
- Knowledge of construction grading techniques and site preparation processes
- Ability to adhere strictly to safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and construction utility work
- Construction site experience demonstrating familiarity with construction utility work, excavation processes, and safety protocols
