The Slitter Operator is responsible for safely setting up and operating the slitting line to process steel coils to customer specifications while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.

- Operate the slitting line and monitor all machine functions throughout production.
- Verify work orders, coil identification, widths, and specifications before processing.
- Perform pre-operational safety and equipment inspections.
- Adjust machine settings including speed, tension, oscillation, and pressure.
- Coordinate with Head Setters, Packagers, Quality, and Production personnel.
- Operate coil carts and associated controls to safely position material.
- Ensure scrap winders, recoilers, and grippers function properly.
- Change and clean slitter pads and monitor tooling condition.
- Use pneumatic banders to secure finished coils.
- Maintain inventory of consumable supplies and notify management of shortages.
- Troubleshoot routine equipment issues and report maintenance concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist in other warehouse operations as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Manufacturing or steel processing experience preferred.
- Ability to read work orders, tape measures, and micrometers.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork.
- Reliable attendance and commitment to safety.
