Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmissions and various trailer types, including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, dump, and roll-off trucks.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Execute route driving with precision, adhering to schedules and traffic regulations to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to maintain safety and compliance standards.
- Manage freight securely during transit, ensuring proper load securing techniques for different cargo types.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery status, route changes, or any issues encountered on the road.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, delivery logs, and inspection reports in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers preferred.
- Proficiency in driving manual transmission trucks and handling various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Prior experience in freight delivery or route driving with a focus on load & unload operations.
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment like forklifts safely when required for loading or unloading cargo.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to commercial driving and transportation of hazardous or specialized freight.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatch teams and customers.
