What we are looking for:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced leader to be the operational leader for our 200 data organization. The data organization at Tripadvisor encompasses five teams: Data Infrastructure, Data Science & Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Analytics and Data Strategy. These teams collectively manage all of the data across Tripadvisor including our petabyte scale data warehouse, our ranking/sorting algorithms that power our hotels experience, our marketing analytics and LTV based optimizations, and our growing DataAI monetization strategy. This role sits at the intersection of those 5 teams and is an extremely high visibility and impact role. As a critical right hand, you will play an integral role in driving the planning and execution of the Data team’s business forward. This reports to the Sr. Director of Data Strategy & Operations, and partners closely with the executive team to define vision, communicate progress, and ultimately deliver results. Ideal candidates for this role have experience and exposure to corporate strategy, planning and operations, internal communications, and cross functional alignment.
What you’ll do:
- Be a consultant and thought-partner to the VP, Head of Data and Sr. Director Data Strategy. In particular, knowing how to divide and conquer strategic tasks to push the Data agenda forward to make Data leadership more visible and impactful.
- Work alongside the Sr. Director of Data Strategy to prioritize Data strategy and monetization initiatives and know when to escalate items versus tackle the problem yourself as a leader within the org.
- Serve as a culture ambassador for the Data Org, driving connectivity and awareness across offices / locales to enhance the employee experience.
- Drive the strategic planning approach for the Data org. Partner with Product and Stakeholders across Tripadvisor to influence broader planning processes and ceremonies.
- Partner with stakeholders on board presentations, Town Halls, and strategic updates to ELT members and beyond .
- Own the communication strategy of the Data org relative to the rest of Tripadvisor. Build our weekly/bi-weekly/monthly cadence of providing updates and project status.
- Find ways to bring more accountability into the organization by setting up standard ways of progress reporting and cross-functional alignment.
- Establish strong relationships among the Data leaders, and across the wider Tripadvisor org.
- Maintain effective communication with appropriate stakeholders/team members to keep them aware of critical issues and develop action plans for addressing issues and removing roadblocks.
- Lead and partner on special projects for areas with high visibility, impact or urgency.
- Develop high quality processes to improve how we operate and work cross-functionally with teams
Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience partnering with executives to navigate complex businesses and matrixed organizations.
- Experience working alongside senior-level executives to identify, solve, and tackle critical problems and push an organization forward within their strategic planning agendas.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders across the business.
- Possess an analytical, strategic and structured mindset with entrepreneurial drive.
- A self-starter with a bias towards action.
- Strong attention to detail, coupled with the ability to break down problems to expedite finding a solution to larger business problems.
- Excellent writing skills that can translate complex business ideas into digestible communications for the proper audience (board members, employees, leaders, etc.)
- Experience as a people-oriented leader, always considering the impact of your actions on those around you.
