Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Position summary: The Philanthropy Communications Manager will be a shared position between the Trinity Health Muskegon Office of Philanthropy (0.75) and the Trinity Health Saint Mary's Foundation (0.25). This position will ensure all philanthropy-related communications (i.e., donor acknowledgements, print publications, event and program marketing materials, case statements, campaign fact sheets, website, social media, press releases) support the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors; and, support the growth and enhancement of each department's philanthropy activities. In addition, this position will provide support and project management for various assignments, programs and events, and assures funds are raised and utilized in accordance with applicable laws, gift accounting practices, donor’s wishes and ethical standards. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business or related field such as event planning, public relations, communications, marketing, or advertising. At least 5-7 years of related and successful fundraising experience, with demonstrated knowledge of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship skills; and a strong understanding of the role of philanthropy in non-profit organizations. What the Philanthropy Communications Manager: 75% of this position is dedicated to Trinity Health Muskegon Office of Philanthropy Develops, implements, and leads a successful donor communications program that strategically targets all levels of giving, using multiple mediums, for the Trinity Health Muskegon Office of Philanthropy. This will include, but is not limited to: social media sites, web pages, annual donor reports, e-blasts, fund/endowment reports, event/program invitations, donor newsletters, campaign materials, and press releases. Leads efforts to maximize donor contact/reach by guiding effective proposal writing; continually increases momentum by identifying strategic public relations opportunities to promote gifts and other strategic donor communications that build brand awareness and inspire philanthropy. In coordination with local Philanthropy Officers, creates innovative programs and projects to thank and steward loyal major and special gift donors; providing updates/reports (when appropriate), as it relates to their donor support/ investments. Responsible for the communication, review and control of all gift acknowledgements, including thank you letters and pledge reminders. Plays an integral role in helping to develop and continually refine and promote a "Case for Giving." Builds relationships with key constituents such as volunteers, board members, physicians, colleagues, corporate representatives, foundations, and current and prospective donors to provide an effective donor-centered fundraising approach. Develops systems and strategies to integrate and manage donor retention effectiveness. Ensures all philanthropy efforts are communicated/promoted and on the calendar of appropriate officials and targeted guests. Partners with the Trinity Health Marketing and Communications department, and other outside vendors, to ensure seamless messaging, timing and execution of communications for all Mercy Health related news and announcements which involve reaching out to the donor community. Practices and demonstrates extraordinary stewardship to all donors and volunteers; provides exceptional customer service while anticipating and exceeding needs of customers/donors. Maintains knowledge of contemporary trends in fundraising through participation in continuing education and professional affiliations to ensure professional growth. 25% of this position is dedicated to Trinity Health Saint Mary's Foundation for the following projects: Collaborate with contracted communications vendor to create and support a 12-month communication plan. Collaborate with contracted communications vendor to write copy for and oversee three issues of Gift of Health newsletter. Develop and continually refine Case for Support copy and messaging.
