Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: POSITION PURPOSE The Director of Emergency & Critical Care Services at Trinity Health Livonia oversees the planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of the Emergency Department (a 53‑bed Level II Trauma Center), the ICU (16 MICU/SICU beds with a 9‑bed step‑down unit), the Inpatient Behavioral Health unit (32 voluntary and involuntary beds), and the Respiratory Therapy department. This includes coordinating all service areas through strong clinical management and leadership skills. The Director is responsible for the quality of patient care across all assigned departments and ensures adequate, properly trained staff deliver care that meets established standards. They monitor compliance with clinical practice expectations, lead program development with existing staff, plan and oversee new program initiatives, and work in partnership with the Medical Director to achieve departmental goals and address customer service issues. MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelors of Nursing (BSN). MSN or related master’s degree preferred. Licensure: Must possess a current State of Michigan license to practice as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS certification required Training and Experience: Approximately five or more years of progressively more responsible nursing experience, WHAT YOU WILL DO Department Leadership: Manages the department and its services, directly and through supervisors, in line with all hospital and regulatory standards. Policy & Procedure Oversight: Oversees creation and upkeep of department policies, technical procedures, quality control programs, and operational records. Staffing & Resources: Ensures resources needed for patient care are available by performing or delegating hiring, evaluations, and compliance with Trinity Health Livonia policies. Corrective Action: Takes corrective action when needed, following Trinity Health Livonia policies and procedures. Goal Setting & Planning: Develops, recommends, and implements short‑ and long‑term departmental goals, and works with staff to create plans to meet those goals. Performance Improvement: Monitors departmental performance and makes changes to support ongoing improvement. Senior Leadership Reporting: Provides senior leadership with regular updates on progress toward goals and objectives. Collaboration & Resource Utilization: Works collaboratively with Trinity Health Livonia peers and Medical Directors to ensure effective use of staff, capital, and space, and to support high‑quality, cost‑effective patient and support services. Budget Oversight: Prepares, secures approval for, and manages departmental budgets; reviews and approves equipment and supply purchases; monitors budget performance, identifies variances, and recommends adjustments as needed. Organizational Participation: Participates in and represents Trinity Health Livonia in Trinity Health networking, roundtables, and similar initiatives. Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge: Maintains a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, compliance programs, the Code of Ethics, and internal policies to ensure ethical and compliant operations.
