We are looking to hire a RN for our MercyOne Des Moines Cancer and Infusion Care - Newton The chemotherapy registered nurse plans and provides professional nursing care to the patient undergoing cancer treatments or other infusions. He/She coordinates care with other disciplines, consults with the family or significant others and collaborates with the oncologist and attending physician on the patient’s behalf. The RN assesses, implements and evaluates nursing care. QUALIFICATIONS: The chemotherapy registered nurse plans and provides professional nursing care to the patient undergoing cancer treatments or other infusions. He/She coordinates care with other disciplines, consults with the family or significant others and collaborates with the oncologist and attending physician on the patient’s behalf. The RN assesses, implements and evaluates nursing care. . Schedule: Full time 36 hours a week M-F Day shift General Requirements: Administers chemotherapy, injections, infusions, and blood draws for patients. Supports physicians in outpatient setting during their clinic time. Orders chemotherapy drugs. Completes all charge sheets and patient care plans. Adheres to standards of care for chemotherapy and utilizes the nursing process. Demonstrates nursing knowledge and judgment concerning patient care delivery. Demonstrates ability to establish priorities and organize effectively. Demonstrates competence in the clinical practice area. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and continuing education. Demonstrates professional written and verbal skills. Demonstrates professional attitude and interest in work by maintaining acceptable work habits and behavior. Education: EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. EXPERIENCE: Nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred. LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS: Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa required. Maintains BCLS certification at health care provider level. Maintains Mandatory Reporting certification. Completion of ACLS strongly encouraged.
