Superintendent – Commercial ConstructionLocation: Arlington, VA (100% On-Site | Washington, DC Metro Area)Employment Type: Full-TimeIndustry: Commercial Construction / General ContractingClient: Top-Tier General ContractorTravel: Local only (must be within daily commuting distance)  Position OverviewA leading general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee on-site field operations for large-scale commercial construction projects in the Washington, DC Metro area. This role is responsible for jobsite safety, quality control, schedule execution, and day-to-day leadership from project mobilization through close-out.The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader with strong subcontractor management experience and a proven track record delivering complex commercial construction projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage daily on-site field operations for assigned commercial construction projectsOversee subcontracted and self-performed work to ensure compliance with project quality standards and schedulesEnforce a strong jobsite safety culture in compliance with OSHA and company policiesConduct regular safety inspections, audits, and corrective actionsPlan and coordinate jobsite logistics, sequencing, manpower, materials, and equipmentDevelop, maintain, and communicate project schedules and critical milestonesEnsure workmanship meets contract documents, drawings, and specificationsManage, mentor, and develop field staff, foremen, and subcontractor teamsBuild and maintain effective working relationships with owners, consultants, inspectors, and trade partnersAdminister and understand owner contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreementsMonitor KPIs, general conditions, staffing plans, and field-related project costsLead punch list completion, commissioning support, and project close-out activitiesProactively resolve jobsite challenges through strong problem-solving and decision-makingEducation RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related fieldOREquivalent combination of education and relevant commercial construction experienceExperience Requirements5–7 years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projectsProven experience delivering large-scale commercial projects2 years of experience leading and managing field teamsStrong background in field operations, scheduling, and subcontractor coordinationExperience with one or more of the following project types preferred:High-rise residentialMixed-use developmentsHospitalityStudent housingHigher education facilitiesTechnical Skills & ToolsIn-depth knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencingStrong scheduling, coordination, and field execution skillsProficiency with:ProcoreBluebeamMicrosoft Office SuitePrimavera P6Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, building codes, and safety standardsCertificationsOSHA 30-Hour Certification (required or must be eligible to obtain)Mandatory Requirements (Must-Have)Candidates must meet all of the following criteria to be considered:5–7 years of Superintendent experience in commercial constructionExperience delivering large-scale commercial projectsProven field operations leadership experienceOSHA 30-Hour Certification (completed or eligible)Procore experienceAbility to work 100% on-siteReside within daily commuting distance of the Washington, DC Metro areaStrong safety and quality management backgroundExperience managing subcontractors and internal field teams
