Essential Functions
- Ensures that data regarding program objectives is collected
- Provides support to people experiencing mental health crisis
- Provides on-going individual, group and family therapy
- Conducts clinical assessment that includes assessment of risk factors
- Works with the team to take appropriate action when high-risk indicators are present
- Completes required documentation, including treatment plans, assessments and progress notes
- Recognizes and reports progress participants make toward meeting objectives
- Attends relevant seminars, meetings, and in-service trainings whenever possible.
- Conducts outreach, connection to resources and follow up with participants.
- Provides consultation to the MCRT staff and participates in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7/365 access to a QMHP by MCRT staff
- Considerable knowledge of the techniques and principles of child and family development, family systems theory, individual, family, behavioral therapy (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and crisis focused interventions.
- Considerable knowledge of community resources throughout Cook and Will counties.
- Strong communication and counseling skills.
- Ability to independently diagnose using the DSM 5.
- Strong command of treating people with chronic mental illness.
- Knowledge of substance use treatment.
- Comfort with testifying in court and working with the legal system.
- Knowledge and comfort with completing petitions for involuntary hospitalization.
- Able to work collaboratively with a team and to problem solve
- Able to promote good staff relations and morale
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
- Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
- Be able to complete deep knee squats
- Be able to push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
- Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Operate motor vehicles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
- Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.
- Master’s degree in field of Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience with crisis intervention and suicide risk is required.
