Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a seasonal Admissions Officer, Grades 5-12 (October 1, 2026 – March 15, 2027; or as determined by the Director of Admissions, Grades 5-12). Reporting to the Director of Admissions for Grades 5-12, the Admissions Officer is a key member of the recruitment team responsible for the high-touch evaluation of prospective students and families. Attendance at new employee orientation in August and five days of training in September is required. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Primary Responsibilities
Interviewing and Candidate Evaluation
- Conduct formal admissions interviews for approximately 125 applicants annually, meeting with both students and parents.
- Lead and evaluate applicants during group interview sessions, providing observations on candidate collaboration and social-emotional dynamics.
- Submit detailed, high-quality interview notes and evaluative feedback for every candidate to inform the Admissions Committee’s decision-making process.
- Thoroughly read and analyze applicant files.
Communication and Outreach
- Serve as a primary point of contact for interviewed families, responding promptly to follow-up correspondence via email and voicemail.
- Attend and support major admissions milestones, including Open Houses, curriculum evenings, and community events.
- Partner with the Admissions Associate to manage the Revisit process, assisting with the logistics and execution of events designed to “yield” admitted students.
Administrative and Team Collaboration
- Spend dedicated time with the Admissions Team to review files and calibrate on the applicant pool.
- Sit in on classes and attend school events (Chapels, assemblies, etc.) to maintain a deep, current understanding of the student experience.
- Assist with office duties as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree required.
- A background in education or adolescent development is preferred.
- Previous experience in admissions, counseling, or teaching, preferably within an
- independent school setting.
- Exceptional public relations skills; able to interact with a diverse range of families with
- warmth, poise, and patience.
- Trustworthy and highly discreet, handling sensitive and confidential family information.
- Comfortable using technology, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and admissions
- database software.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for generating clear, insightful
- applicant reports.
