What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control NDT Inspector position at Trinity Products?

As a Quality Control Inspector, you’ll be responsible for performing non-destructive testing (NDT) to evaluate welds, base material, and finished products in accordance with customer requirements, industry codes, and company procedures. This is a Thursday – Sunday (10-hour day) shift, with training Monday – Thursday for the first month.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
NDT Inspections
- Perform visual inspection (VT) and ultrasonic testing (UT) in accordance with approved procedures.
- Ensure all inspections are executed in compliance with SNT-TC-1A, ASME, AWS, and company NDT written practice.
- Conduct receiving, in-process, final, and outbound inspections.
- Maintain calibration of NDT equipment and verify condition before use.
Interpretation & Reporting
- Interpret test results accurately and provide clear acceptance/rejection decisions per applicable standards.
- Document all findings through inspection reports, daily handoffs, and nonconformance reports (NCRs).
- Communicate inspection results to the QC Supervisor, production, and QA.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME, API, AISC, ISO).
- Support compliance with customer specifications and quality plans.
- Follow safety protocols when working with chemicals, or heavy manufacturing equipment.
Support of Quality Department
- Assist/Witness in welder performance qualification and procedure qualification record (PQR) testing.
- Provide input to corrective and preventive action (CAPA) investigations.
- Participate in audits and customer visits as required.
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or technical degree
Experience: 2 years of hands-on NDT experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or welding industries.
Certifications (preferred/not required):
- Level II certification per SNT-TC-1A (2020 or later) in one or more methods (VT, UT, PAUT, MT, PT).
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of NDT techniques and applications.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and industry codes.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
- Effective communication skills for coordination with QC, QA, and production teams.
- Ability to work safely in shop and field environments.
