Position Summary

The Production Scheduler is accountable for managing direct materials planning and inventory control for a mill and fabrication department by assuring proper planning of parts, capacity, and resource requirements through forecasting processes. This role manages the planning control systems to ensure data accuracy and to meet the performance measurements as specified in the business plan. Responsible for transfers of materials between plants and management of the materials function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and/or organize a production schedule daily and also make sure that every output (level) is recorded appropriately in the correct system.
  • Work together with all departments to make sure that all issues that are related to scheduling are properly and timely handled and resolved.
  • Work closely with internal supply chain teams to make sure that production supply needs are adequately met in a timely manner.
  • Rectify and/or reconcile differences and inaccuracies that have to do with Job quantities and receipts.
  • Make sure schedules are given to production in a timely fashion, and that any distortions in the company’s schedule are accounted for always.
  • Ensure the continuity of production processes is clear to every department involved.
  • Maintain different reporting systems to make sure that all forms of documentation are accurate and timely.
  • Monitors and adjusts production standards as required to ensure accuracy throughout the production schedule.
  • Monitors capacity in all departments and routinely reports out current capacity as well as forecasts future workload.
  • Micro monitors staffing and throughput of any resource constraint (bottleneck). Reports all variances to plan and provides summary reports daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Develops status tracking tools for all critical production orders and non-recurring projects.
  • Develop Status tracking tools such as Gantt charts or Microsoft Projects with standard move and queue time.
  • Periodically monitors accuracy of data in the ERP system looking at quantity and frequency of entry errors.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or similarly related field.
  • Years of experience instead of a degree will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ working experience in a similar position.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and complete multiple projects.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment cordially and effectively, as well as having the ability to lead a team if required to.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus pay

  • O'Fallon, MO: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
